Smoking Ban Being Discussed

Actually they wouldnt go out of business because all bars would be non-smoking except for private clubs. The non-smokers outnumber the smokers in the general public so if it goes to some kind of vote it could very well happen.


1` important point. When your cigarrette/cigar is burning it emits the unfiltered smoke. The smoke the smoker inhales is often at least filtered.
If the filtered smoke is bad for you, then the unfiltered is worse.

They do it in New York ans many other cities that are bigger or as big as Cincinnati, and most office buildings are allready smoke free so it's really not much of a reach.

Things that couls/will happen

As the word PUBLIC is the key in these ideas. The advent of the members only club will push forward. Certain establishments, especially those who are bar only and do not serve food will charge a small fee for a membership card (probably annual) so that members can smoke there.

The "open air policy" will be in place so that places with patios will be allowing smoking in/on their patio areas as long as they do not have a roof and can be considerred "enclosed"

Northern KY will push for it almost imediately after Cincinnati does.

Lew's bowling alley is a private business open to the public, and Lew, as the business owner, should be allowed to decide whether he wants to allow smoking.

"Any and all behaviors" are available, smoking and non smoking sections. When we were in Zona Rosa, I had many, many well-meaning Mexican folks caution me about being out late at night. Zona Rosa turns into Zona Roja -- Something a bit like our neighborhood by day.

Bob's been back without me, stayed in Zona Rosa, and was approached by, um... people of a different sexual persuasion. It was Zona Roja.

Rick's Cabaret on Bourbon Street would not fly in Cincinnati, but I wasn't offended. I went in willingly and spent my bucks [/wilingly[/b].

Just like I will go into P.F. Chang's and spend my bucks. It's ALL no smoking.

To me, it's all economic. As I've stated before, I smoke. My tobacco taxes are supporting so fucking (Sorry, Sluggo) many programs for "the children", I've pretty much decided to quit.

Have your ideas and your ideals, but leave the gubmit OUT of it. If I insisted on smoking at my desk, I wouldn't have my job. My office is smoke free by choice, not government mandate.

That's the difference.

If a place wants to go smoke free, and I want to eat/shop there, I will. MY choice. I don't need the likes of Cincinnati City Council (what are we up to now -- 38 B on B murders and counting) to legislate more bullshit.

So, to answer your question, Tomas, everything is available -- it's the American way. I'm just so sorry you'd prefer we all live under a socialist thumb.

Matter of fact I don't remember anything in the constitution mandating capitalism as the economic system of choice.
